You may have heard the phrase, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.” (2 Cor 6:14 NIV) This was one of Paul’s warnings to the Corinthian church and is highly regarded in discussions around marriage and business. In today’s discussion, I’d Read more […]

Within the Christian circles I run, I’ve heard so many people quote the idea that the sins of our fathers will follow us which brings me to this idea of generational poverty. Maybe that sounds a little extreme to you? Maybe it doesn’t. Money is such a crippling idea that most people don’t ever get a grasp on. I want to break this down and make it simple to understand.

Frequently the topic of teaching our kids money comes up from homeschooling families we know. I started my banking career in the mid 90’s and was asked in 2007 to put together a stewardship training for our church. Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing you know, we’re teaching homeschool families how to train their children in Godly finances.
Have you ever felt as if your efforts were not bringing the success you hoped for? In 2015, I want to show you how you can achieve unprecedented success in 2015.
What is success? It is a series of actions or attitudes found in achievement. First you set a goal, whatever that may be. Second, you map a plan to reach that goal. Finally, you complete the tasks to reach that goal. Some people consider success to be based on bank account. Jesus told us, “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?” (Mt 16:26 NIV)
Ok, so success is not measured by the bank account or the accumulation of things. What should we say then about this idea of success?
What worked last year, won’t necessarily work this year. Why? I heard it said, “The same man never steps into the same stream.” The man is constantly changing and the stream is in constant flow. Why then, do we as human beings seek to recreate our past successes and continue to do things in the same fashion as we did yesterday?
