Secret Millionaire
It’s Sunday night, what will we watch? What’s this? A new show on ABC? Secret Millionaire is redefining wealth exchange and generosity for our generation!
In the show, America’s most successful millionaires have a chance to go undercover for 1 week to investigate some unsung hero who is making a real difference in their community. These millionaires are given a week’s welfare pay to live on so they can experience the difficulties of not ‘having it all’ at any given moment.
This is a reality check for sure. It is awe inspiring to see so many people with money as they give it away to causes they believe are deserving. There are tears at moments and cheers at other moments throughout the show.
Here’s the reality of what I believe God is saying for each of us with shows like this. I don’t believe he wants any of us to be Secret Millionaires. We are living in a time when more people are becoming millionaires every day than there were on the planet 100 years ago. The possibilities are endless in how to achieve millionaire status.
There is a problem though…
“You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” – Hag 1:6 NIV
In our age of entitlement, we’re told to work hard and you can have what ever it is in life that you want – until you try to get what you want. Then the story changes to, be realistic, that’s only a pipe dream. We are filled with so many contradictions about what we can and cannot do in our world that it makes sense that so many people live well below their potential.
I’d like to illustrate with the area of personal finance and money management. The poor don’t like to live from a spending plan, more commonly known as
a budget (available FREE at the bottom of the page). The wealthy wouldn’t be without one. The poor find money to be a burden and say that you can’t buy happiness. The wealthy also believe you can’t buy happiness, but the power of money provides choices while happiness comes from within. The poor would rather work 3 jobs to survive not knowing they are building the dreams of their employers rather than their own.
I truly believe that there are many people out there who need help. It’s time we stop playing the game of Secret Millionaire and take back the wealth of
the world so we can use it for good. The money is going to be spent anyways, let’s take it back so we can be a blessing to others. Currently, too much of the world’s wealth is controlled by people who do not believe in using it for good, but rather for selfish pleasure or power and control.
Lance Wallnau, a Kingdom minded speaker and teacher, says that every desire we’ve ever had comes with the capacity to achieve that desire. Wealth
is found either financially or influentially. We must become the very essence of what we desire. He shares that we all fall into one of three categories…
- Sufficiency – We have just what we need to survive.
- Prosperity – We have what we need to survive and a little more for retirement, education, and savings planning for the future.
- Wealth – We are way beyond prosperous. Here is where we become the influencers of the world.
Friends, it is time we stand up in the power God has given each of us. It is time we answer the call of the burning desire within each of us.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Pet 1:3
There is much to learn, but you already have everything you need if you truly believe God has equipped you to fulfill your greater purpose!
It’s time to stop playing the part of secret millionaire and become either a financial or influential leader in the Kingdom of God using the very skills and talents he blessed only you with.
May God Bless You!
